For the Birds

St. Andrews Bay, South Georgia Island, Antarctica

How do you walk around and photograph half a million penguins? Slowly. They like their tolerance served with a side of apprehension. The size and smell of 500,000 3-foot-tall birds is hard to fathom. Totally awesome and a first for me. Not new to the penguins: a guy in a red coat with a camera. Photo © copyright by Craig Kerr.
